Weighted Grade Formula
Grade = (w1 × g1) + (w2 × g2) + ... + (wn × gn)Where:
w= Weight of the assignment category (as decimal)g= Grade received in that categoryExample:
Exams= 40% weight, 85 averageHomework= 60% weight, 95 averageCalculation:
(0.40 × 85) + (0.60 × 95) = 34 + 57Result: 91 (A-)
Frequently Asked Questions
A weighted grade is calculated by multiplying each assignment's score by its weight (percentage of the total grade) and then summing these values. For example, if Tests are 40% (0.4) and you got 90, contribution is 36. If Homework is 60% (0.6) and you got 80, contribution is 48. Total grade = 36 + 48 = 84.
