How to Measure Square Footage

To find the square footage of a regular rectangular room, simply measure the length and width in feet and multiply them together.

Length (ft) × Width (ft) = Area (sq ft)

Why Calculate Waste?

When buying materials like flooring, siding, or roofing, professional contractors always add a "waste factor". This accounts for:

  • Cutting materials to fit corners and edges.
  • Mistakes or localized damage.
